Job Description

Joe’s Movement Emporium (Joe’s) acts as a catalyst for creativity and economic opportunity for all through our programs and productions in education, performing arts, and work readiness. We seek a dynamic and detail-leaning fundraising fanatic to join a small but mighty team of passionate artists and arts managers creating meaningful arts experiences.

As the development specialist for a regional arts organization, you will report to the director of development and provide essential support for donor relations, donor communication, special events, and other administrative support to our team. With your help, we can create and maintain strong community connections. Your tools will be your amazing writing skills, a healthy respect for spreadsheets and databases, an ability to collect and retain donor insights, a love of planning fun events, and a team willing to co-create with you.

Bottom line: we are looking for someone to administer the operations side of the development department, ensuring that the team is organized, prepared to share impact stories and data at a moment’s notice, and capable of deepening their relationships with current and potential donors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Donor Relations

  • Keep track of incoming donations and prepare acknowledgement letters and other correspondence.

  • Conduct preliminary research on prospective individual donors.

  • Manage incentive-related programs sponsored with public agencies such as the state tax credit program.

  • Coordinate the production and mailing of end-of-year appeal letters and other campaigns.

  • Development Operations

  • Create monthly fundraising reports and maintain campaign dashboards in the organization’s CRM.

  • Reconcile donations with the organization’s bookkeeper once a month.

  • Ensure donation, campaign, and individual record information is accurate and create database reports upon request.

  • Serve as the primary database administrator.

  • Maintain foundation, corporation, and individual donor files.

  • Take the lead in gathering relevant data for annual reports and grant applications.

  •  Special Events

  • Oversee follow-up correspondence with event sponsors and track event sponsor documents.

  • Manage event registration and outreach with ticketholders.

  • Other duties as assigned. We are a team! From introducing a performance in our theatre to participating in strategic planning exercises, we want you to be in it with us!

Skills and Experience You Should Have

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • A minimum of two years experience in an administrative position, preferably in a not-for-profit development office.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.

  • Basic understanding of CRM databases (SalesForce preferred).

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

  • Ability to present information concisely and effectively, both verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to organize and prioritize work

  • Ability to work independently with little supervision.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • A self-starter, data and deadline-driven, and ability to multi-task with solid organizational and time-management skills.

  • A love of community and a belief that everyone deserves a place to express themselves is critical.

Salary, Benefits & Perks!

  • This is an exempt position with a salary range of $40K-$45K, dependent on experience.

  • Additional training in data or development skills as needed.

  • Health insurance and retirement plan.

  • Paid vacation, sick leave, and personal leave.

  • Free access to our incredible classes, workshops, and performances.
